ZORRA
Female/ 3 years / 12kg/ Shepard -Mix / Petite-Medium Size
Zorra is a sweet, goofy, playful and loyal dog looking for a deep connection.
Zorra was rescued by one of our partner rescuers Layla.
Zorra is from the valley surrounding Miahuatlan. She was living on the side of the highway with a dying litter of 3 week old puppies. She was very thin and only around 1 year old. Of the three puppies left when I met Zorra on November 6, 2021, one didn’t make it though that day. The other two were taken in by a kind local family to be cared for closely while Zorra came home with me to heal.
She gained weight and strength very well and began slowly to trust. Once she started joining the hikes she came back to life in a beautiful wild way. She gained her confidence and curiosity back. She is extremely playful and social with the other dogs and loves toys. When we go hiking she usually follows her senses and explores smelling everything. She is very intelligent and needs a lot of nature time but is still medium energy and very happy to skip a walk and cuddle on the couch. While she is shy and independent she is also very affectionate in an intimate way. She is a very loyal and protective dog. She takes her time to warm up to humans but she connects she loves deeply. She benefits from lots of social and play time with other dogs.
She has been on many road trips and swam for the first time in the Chacahua lagoon. She is very calm in the car and follows off-leash well. We are currently beginning to go into centro and while she is nervous on busy streets she is getting more comfortable. She lives in the house and is very respectful of the house. She is also very helpful keeping the younger dogs entertained and teaching them respect.
She would be a great companion dog and ideally in a home that has a yard. She would also be great in a family with other dogs.
