Animal alliance /
interspecies collaboration benefiting all
Caravana Canina is a non-profit dog rescue project based in Oaxaca, Mexico.
The project was started in 2019 and grew organically, out of an immediate need to support suffering dogs in our residential neighborhood on the outskirts of the city.
During daily walks, we would come across dogs with distemper, parvo, open machete wounds, and TVT, an STD that causes cancerous tumors.
Our project has 3 principal efforts:
Medical Care
Provide medical care for dogs with the most urgent medical needs - ones that likely wouldn’t survive without our help.
Provide vaccinations for street dogs and cats.
Foster + Adoption program
Once dogs have been rehabbed, we work to find them homes here in Mexico, and abroad in the US and Canada. To date, we have found homes for over 140 dogs and cats.
Spay and Neuter campaigns
We work with skilled veterenarians to provide free spay and neuter surgeries to communities in the Valles Centrales region of Oaxaca. We believe it is these campaigns that will have the largest impact in reducing animal overpopulation, and thus suffering of animals on the streets.
If you feel moved to support our efforts helping animals here in Oaxaca, please consider making a donation, volunteering, or adopting a rescue dog.
