Frida
Female/ 2 years / 14kg/ Aussi Shepard -Mix / Medium Size
Frida is a shy and playful dog looking for a family to grow and learn with.
Frida is from San Felipe just north of Oaxaca center. She is from a local street dog pack that roams the area but still haven’t gotten friendly enough with humans to let anyone touch them. Her and her brother seemed to be the only surviving puppies but were still battling early distemper. It was a struggle to capture them and took over a week of tracking but soon they were in the yard meeting the other dogs. They were very weary of humans and while her brother Silan warmed up soon after; Frida took a month before she would let me touch her. She began learning to walk on leash and was sterilized at a CaravanaCanina Sterilization Campaign. After two months she began to trust and relax with human affection. She is now a healthy sweet girl who loves exploring the forest and receiving gentle belly rubs and forehead kisses. Silan, her brother, was happily adopted to Toronto, Canada and adjusted very well.
Frida is a very curious playful puppy. She loves toys, chewing bones and playing with the other dogs. Because of her upbringing with her street dog family she naturally follows and learns best from the other dogs. It would ideal for Frida to be in a home with another dog as her company but also to help her adjust to the family rules and customs.
She loves to run on our hikes and will need a lot of exercise and freedom to explore nature off leash but isn’t necessarily a high energy dog. She’s quite shy and very calm when we go out around the center. Frida has been coming to many different places and meeting many new people. While she is very shy and unsure; she is calm and sleeps well in a calm cafe corner. In the car Frida sits calmly but drools a lot. This is possibly due to a mixture of nausea and fear of the car, but with time and reassurance she should grow out of this. At home she barks at new people when they enter the house but once introduced she settles down. She responds well to training and is very observant and intelligent.
Frida is similar in appearance to an Australian Shepard but with longer legs. She is great with other dogs and very gentle with humans. She will grow to be a very loyal companion, and truly has some unique furry ears.
