Ticuchi

Ticuchi is a very special dog for us. His mother lives tied up to a tree outside and Ticuchi lived there with her. One day while driving by, I noticed that he was having spasms, clearly caused by distemper.

We quickly found foster homes in which he could be the only dog. Distemper is a highly contagious virus and can pose a risk even to dogs who are vaccinated for it.

As of September 22, 2020, we’ve been fostering Ticu for approximately 3 months. In that time, he has made enormous progress.

He can now eat on his own, go to the bathroom outside on his own, stand and walk around. He loves to play, loves to socialize with other dogs, cuddle with humans, and sunbathe in the garden.

He still has spasms (a result from nerve damage caused by the virus), and it’s likely he will have them for the rest of his life. He is a special needs dog looking for a very attentive and loving family.

At the moment, we are only looking for homes for him in Oaxaca, as we believe travel would be difficult for him to manage. However, if he continues on this recovery trajectory, he may be able to be adopted elsewhere in the future.
